Oathly Privacy Policy

The short version. You do not need an account. Without one, your answers, progress, settings and practice recordings stay on your phone and nothing is sent to us. If you choose to sign in with Google, we save your study progress to your account so you can use it on another phone. The app has no ads, no analytics and no tracking. You can delete your account and saved data at any time.

What the app keeps on your phone

This information is stored in the app's private storage on your phone. You can erase it in the app (Settings → Erase my progress, or Start over), or by uninstalling the app.

Signing in with Google (optional)

Signing in is optional. If you choose it, Google tells us your name, email address and a unique account ID (through Firebase Authentication, a Google service). We use them only to know which saved copy is yours.

When you are signed in, Oathly saves one document for you in Google Cloud Firestore (servers in the United States) containing: your settings, your answers and review schedule, the days you practised, and your mock interview results. This lets you continue on another phone. Only you, signed in to your account, can read or change your document; our database rules block everyone else. We do not sell this information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone else. Google processes it for us as our service provider under its own terms and privacy policy.

Deleting your data. Open Settings → Account → Delete my account. This deletes your saved copy and your Oathly account. The progress on your phone stays until you erase it. If you cannot open the app, email duskline.labs@gmail.com from the address on your Google account and we will delete your data. We keep your saved copy only until you delete it.

Purchases

Full Access is a one-time purchase handled by Google Play. Payment details go to Google, not to Oathly; we never see them. The app only learns, from Google Play on your phone, whether you own Full Access.

Microphone

The app asks for microphone access only when you tap Record myself. The recording lets you play back your own voice for practice. It is not sent anywhere, is not analysed, and is deleted when you leave the practice screen, when you record again, when you erase your progress, and whenever the app starts.

Notifications

The daily reminder is optional. It is scheduled on your phone and no server is involved. You can turn it off in the app or in your phone's settings.

Reading aloud

The Listen buttons use the text-to-speech engine built into your phone, which is provided by your phone's maker or Google. Oathly does not control that engine, and how it works is covered by its own privacy information.

Internet

Studying works without internet. The app connects to the internet only to sign in, save or fetch your progress when you are signed in, and to check or buy Full Access with Google Play. The button Open USCIS test updates opens the public page on uscis.gov in your web browser; after that, your browser and that website's own policies apply.

Ads, analytics and other services

Oathly contains no advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking. The only outside services are Google sign-in and Firebase (optional account and saved copy) and Google Play (purchase).

Children

Oathly is made for adults preparing for the U.S. naturalization test and is not directed to children. Accounts are for adults only, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the data.

Not affiliated with any government agency

Oathly is an independent study app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or any other government agency. It does not give legal advice and cannot promise any result. Questions and word lists come from the public USCIS study materials; check uscis.gov/citizenship/testupdates for answers that have changed.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes how it handles information, for example by adding ads or new online features, this page will be updated first and the date above will change.
